Training

Providing customers with a professional experience that meets or exceeds their expectations is what every business owner and operator seeks to achieve. In order to do this staff need to be equipped with the appropriate skills and abilities. It is very rare to have employees start work in a business that already have everything you require of your employees.

Training can be a complex issue, what training to do, who to train with and what to do if you are not satisfied with your training provider. This is without even considering what funding is available, how much should you pay and who is eligible for subsidised training places.

It is the above issues that led the THA to become actively involved in this space. We have preferred training partners who we regularly work with on training funding applications, best practice training for industry and innovative training programs to benefit our members and our industry.

Members are regularly notified of any opportunities to access industry relevant training programs offered by our training partners.

THA members can also speak to our staff about any enquiries related to staff training for all employees. Members are referred to our training partners based on their needs and which partner is able to offer a service that best meets requirements.

A further advantage of undertaking training through our training partners is that if you have any issues we can assist in resolving these for you.

Mandatory Training for Hospitality Employees

Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) and Responsible Conduct of Gaming (RCG)

All people employed to sell or serve alcohol must hold a recognised RSA certificate or provide proof of enrolment in an approved RSA training course. RSA  can be accessed online through our training partners listed below. Alternatively if you would like a course run in your venue this can be arranged provided minimum numbers are met.

RCG training is available online also.  All licensed employees are required to undertake this training within three months of obtaining their Tasmanian Gaming License as well as renewing their RCG every five years.
